Shiloh  and  Jed

Hi PAA Team
Just wanted to let you know how well our two adoptees have settled into the family.

We adopted our Border Collie Jed in November 2008 and our Doberman X Shiloh in February 2009.

Jed loves it out here with 3/4 of an acre to run around on .. he is very smart .. loves playing fetch and follows my husband Michael around constantly.

Shiloh was a little more subdued at first .. when she arrived she was overweight with fairly painful arthritis but after a well balanced diet and some glucosamine tablets she is moving around much easier.

This is her retirement home and she spends most of her day sunbaking or sleeping and seems very content.

When Shiloh and Jed are not outside playing they are inside watching telly with us on their beds .. these guys are very spoilt and we love them very much .. I only wish we could have more!

Jed is our beautiful Border Collie    Shiloh is our gorgeous Doberman X    Jed and Shiloh    Jed and Shiloh    Jed and Shiloh

Thank you PAA.

Francis or Fran

Hi PAA
My family and I adopted Francie (Fran) September 2010 .. she is an amazing dog .. she and my husband are the best of mates .. she is the second love of his life.

Fran loves her daily walks .. house visitors .. rough housing .. her shell pool .. sweet potato and lasagna.

Fran

She fitted right in and is the centre of everyones attention .. Fran is very loyal and sweet natured .. she is full of personality ..a bit of a sook and very bossy .. she knows what she wants and how to get it.

We couldn't imagine life without our little girl.

Hannah  and  Possum  (Ollie)

Hi Kylee
Chapter One:
We took Hannah into our lives from PAA on 13th February 2009 she was aged around 9-10 months old .. we believe she had been abused as she was a very frightened little puppy with a nasty sore on her face.

But with lots of loving care and attention Hannah has become a beautiful girl and she is now a well behaved lovable and gentle pet who loves bear hugs and long walks .. we are so thankful to PAA for introducing us to her.

Hannah

Chapter Two:
We decided Hannah needed a baby sister or brother (but not another dog) so we decided on a kitten for her to play with.

Our neighbour/friends have a dog and three cats and Hannah doesn't seem to worry too much about the cats other than sniffing them to check them out so a kitten seemed the obvious thing.

Hannah with Dad and Possum

Next thing to do is check out the PAA website to see what was available .. Kylee was fostering some kittens that had been socialise with her dog so that seemed the right way to go .. we made arrangements with Kylee to pick up a kitten on Saturday March 27th 2010.

Doesn't matter about colour or sex just one that we take to and one that seems OK with us .. Hello Ollie .. we renamed him Possum .. we brought him home and introduced him to Hannah.

Hannah with Dad and Possum

Hannah was very curious but not nasty in any way except when Possum got a bit close to her Dad .. I am not sharing my Dad with no Cat .. maybe if I turn my back on it .. it will go away .. and then OH No it is not sitting on his lap 'cause he is mine.

Hannah and Possum

That all happened on Sunday evening one hour after Possum arrived on the scene .. Sunday was spent getting to know each other with some help from Mum and Dad .. on Monday Well I guess he's OK; maybe I could love that cat! (see pic).

Epilogue:
Here are two beautiful pets we brought into our lives from PAA.
They now have their forever home .. thank you PAA and Kylee.

Regards
Janice and Terry Brown

Bundie   (Cobin)

Hey lynne and all at PAA
I just wanted to let you all know that I am going fine.

My new mummy and her family took me home in May 2007 and we have been on heaps of holidays together.

I started getting scared and bored by myself and was causing alot of trouble towards the end of 2009 so Mummy and her Step-Mum went out and adopted a play mate for me from the shelter.

Her name is now Trina .. she is so much fun to play with .. we went camping in September 2009 and she came with us.

I added some of my favourite photos for you all to see how we are.

Love Always
Bundie

Trina   (Kirra)

Hey Lynne
Thank you so much for having me at the shelter even though it was the day after that horrible break-in at PAA.

My family was distressed about that as I bet you were too.

My mum Lee and BeeJae came in the next day to help clean up at the shelter

It was love at first sight between me and Lee .. we have been inseprable ever since.

We have all been on some crazy adventures and Bundie is my new best friend.

Anyway I am off 'cause dinner is ready .. then for dessert it is doggy chocolates and some of BeeJae's ice-cream she drops on the floor.

Love Always
Trina

Luna

Howdy!
Luna our Staffy X is the newest family member .. here is her update.

Luna has settled in so well .. I could not have wished for a better friend for our Staffy Bruiser .. they get on like a house on fire!

Luna has been very very well behaved .. right from the word go .. she has settled in really well and become a real Daddys girl!

She loves cuddles and loves Bruiser and has become very loyal and devoted to her new family.

She even stayed in the backyard when Daddy left the gate open when mowing .. even through Bruiser ended up going for a wander!
Luna
They have gotten so close that Bruiser even takes it upon himself to protect Luna from the vacuum cleaner when she gets scared.

Since we have had Luna she has gotten taller and put on a fair bit of weight .. she loves the specialised roo meat with rice and pasta that gets cooked up for her!

Anyway I have attached a few pictures .. I hope you enjoy looking at them.

We will definitely keep in touch with more updates in the future.

Cheers

BEAR

Hi All
Hope you are all well .. missing you guys heaps but I am having a awesome time at my new home.

As you can see from the photos I sent you .. I am really enjoying myself.

I have a lovely big bed to sleep on right outside the back door.

I also have a big back yard to run around in and I also go for a minium of one walk every day!

Today Im tired because I went for a walk that was 1.5 hours, but I got to go for a swim in the creek to cool off which was heaps of fun.

As you can see form the photos I get to go inside at night for a while before bedtime.

I love hanging out in the study with the other boys playing computer games and laying in the red fire truck bean bag .. it is fun to roll around in.

Although sometimes when I am inside I forget my inside manners and like to run and jump so I have to go outside again .. but most of the time I am well behaved.

My family have also brought me some new toys to play with too .. my favourites to play with are my duck and chicken.

I also have a soft soccer ball that I like to play with too with the boys.

I also put some photos of my back and tail in the email too .. my fur has been growing back and I don't itch or scratch and I have 0 flees.

My new family took me to the vet the other day for a check up .. the vet gave me a injection which was steroids to stop my allergy .. it worked SUPER well.

I also have regular baths with Dr Harry's Natural Oatmeal Formula Conditioner .. it makes my skin feel soothing and my fur nice and shinny and super soft.

I also have to have regular flee spray and brush which I do not enjoy much but I know it is for the best.

I am happy with my new family and feel very lucky sometimes even spoilt!

Miss you all
Lots of doggie love
Bear :-)

TEAKA and SASHA

Hello to all the lovely Volunteers at PAA
(Especially our first Human Mum's Kylee and Sheryl)

It is Teaka and Sasha Matjac here .. our cat mum Ebony came to PAA when we were still in her tummy.

Kylee and Sheryl looked after us so well at their house and then our new human mum Sarah came to adopt us .. we are sisters so Mum thought it would be good to keep us together to be company for one another when she is out.

We have lots of great toys to play with here and a HUGE cat tree to climb scratch and wrestle on .. mostly we like cuddling .. getting a pat or a brush and chasing our toy mice around the house.

Oh and we love food too .. we really believe that we rule the house (as all cats do) and like to sleep and play on the dining table (which Mum does not seem to like too much!
Teaka and Sasha new home
Our Mum took us to meet her Prep class this one time and we loved all the attention and pats we received from the kids there.

We have made good friends with our Canine Aunts and Cousins and love taking car trips over to Nan and Grandpa's house.

The trips to the vets are not quite as much fun and Teaka has had a couple of overnight stays in emergency after the worm tablets and her first vaccination made her very very sick.

But she is ok now .. we want to say Thank You to PAA for looking after our Cat Mum so well and giving us such a great start to life!

We might not be here if it wasn't for you and our Mum would not have the joy of giving us cuddles every day!

Love Teaka and Sasha Matjac
Our Mum Sarah says Thank You too!

CHARLIE

told by Charlie
Hello my name is Charlie .. my mother got me from the Peninsular Animal Aid centre just over 2 years ago (2007).

I hear her telling her friends about the day she decided she wanted to take me home .. it goes like this....
Charlie
A friend of Mums lives at Scarborough and they were walking along the beach and she kept on patting the dogs she walked past .. her friend said the pound is just up the road .. why don't we just go up and see if there is a dog that you would like to take home .. after much 'ohhh no-ing .. I don't want a dog!

Anyway there were 2 little Maltese dogs there one in the cage below who was a lovely little active young gal and I was at the top just watching all the people going past this old dog who had been shaved to the skin as the people who had me before did not look after me all that well and I was all matted and dirty so the lovely people at he pound got a groomer in to make me feel and look pretty scmik.

Apparently my breath was not nice (I had to have 8 infected teeth taken out) and I had Kennel Cough .. a hernia and fungus in my poor little ears .. well mum (as she is now) took me out of my cage and I just followed her around and of course won her heart .. she and I must say everyone that has any contact with me keep on saying that I am a darling litle dog.

Every couple of months mum takes me to Judy who gives me a wash and gives me a hair cut .. cuts my nails and also puts .. yes after shave on me .. wow do I smell wonderful and at Christmas I get lovely little Christmas decorations in my hair at Easter I even had lovely little Easter Eggs and of course on St Patricks day I have Shamrocks.

Boy have I landed on my paws .. my mum takes me down to Shorncliffe and I run with the other dogs in the puddles .. but I have always have to make sure that mum is close by as sometimes the puddles are a little deep and it could come up to my knees so my mum comes to makes sure I am fine.

I would just like to say to anyone who is thinking of taking a dog from the shelter .. if you see this poor little dog who has not been treated all that well please give them a chance as they will give you as much love and companionship that you could ever need.

Little Charlie has given many people that he has come in contact with so much pleasure and is also extremely happy being the centre of attention .. my mother is very ill at present and he is staying with her whilst I am at work .. he is such good company and is incredible at keeping her company .. I absolutley adore him and cannot imagine life without his little personality ... I would like to thank the Animal refuge for taking care of him whilst he was there .. you are truly amazing people.

Thanks PAA!!
