REDCLIFFE BRISBANE QUEENSLAND We are naming this dear little boy LUCKY .. he is a Maltese X .. Lucky is very gentle and affectionate despite his sad mistreatment. He has just arrived so we will learn more about his personality soon. The vet care for such an abused pet is more expensive than usual .. so if you would like to help by donating towards the vet care for Lucky it will be greatly appreciated. Lucky was dumped in the after hours cages .. he has a bacterial and yeast infection. He is on medication for this condition .. we bath Lucky in a special wash twice a week .. he does not mind us bathing him and he is a great little patient. We have started Lucky on a good diet to get this poor darling back to a healthy state and ready for adoption. How does this happen .. this is sheer neglect and we can not understand why people do not ask for help or why neighbours/friends do not report such abuse .. but it seems it is easier to just leave the animals suffer. Chance came from the animal shelter at Bracken Ridge over a year ago when he was about 1 year old .. he is very obedient and can sit .. stay .. shake and lie down. Chance loves attention and being around people .. he can be a little pushy towards people .. he is just rough really and does not know his own strength and often knocks into people. Chance needs at least 5 foot fences to keep him in and lives with another Dane and a Staffy X .. they all get along well with each other. We are not sure what he is like with other dogs .. he does get very excited around them but he is still really only a puppy. We are not sure how he is around children as he has never been in that situation except for the rare occassion on the street .. he maybe best suited to children over 10 as he does play little rough. He walks well on a lead with a Halti and is slightly timid and does not like loud noises .. he cowers if hands are lifted to him .. coming from a shelter with no history we not sure what has happened to him in his life before but he is quite fearful. He was extremely thin when we recieved him and he is still slightly still a little thin no matter how much we to feed him .. he is extremely energetic and can run around with the other dogs in the yard all day. He is slightly house trained but has never really stayed indoors for a long periods of time. He does need training so possibly someone who has the time and is willing to put the effort into making him get over his timidness and chasing birds .. lastly he is NOT GOOD WITH SMALL ANIMALS eg cats and birds and possibly small dogs. Chance is not at PAA Shelter but is in safe care until his adoption.
